Nian-Feng Tzeng

Brief Biography

Nian-Feng Tzeng received the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1986. Currently, he is Eminent Scholar Endowed Chair Professor with Center for Advanced Computer Studies, School of Computing and Informatics, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he joined in 1987. He has been Associated Director of School of Computing and Informatics since 2016. He spent Fall 2000 with the Department of Computer Science, Rice University. His current research interest is in the areas of high-performance computer architecture and systems, computer communications and networks, and dependable computing and networked systems. He had been on the editorial board of the IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems, 1998 - 2001, and on the editorial board of the IEEE Transactions on Computers, 1994 - 1998. He served as Co-Guest Editor of a special issue of the Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing on distributed shared memory systems, September 1995, and as a Distinguished Visitor of the IEEE Computer Society, 1994 - 1997. He was the Chair of Technical Committee on Distributed Processing, the IEEE Computer Society, 1999 - 2001. He served as the Program Chair of 10th IEEE International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Systems (ICPADS), July 2004, and has been on the program committees of various conferences.

As IEEE Fellow, Dr. Tzeng is the recipient of the outstanding paper award at 10th International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems, May 1990. He received the University Foundation Distinguished Professor Award in 1997.
