I am an instructor and systems administrator for the for Computer Science
in the School of Computing and Informatics at the University of Louisiana
at Lafayette. This amounts to 2 full time jobs. Life is interesting.

As instructor, I regularly teach introductory data structures, advanced
Java and .net/C# applications programming, mobile device programming and
have stumbled into small robots. As systems administrator, I manage a
combination of servers, labs, faculty offices and TA offices.

Prior to coming to UL in 2001, I was systems administrator and computer
science instructor at the Episcopal School of Acadiana for 14 years, as well
as an adjunct instructor at UL beginning in 1994. Prior to that, I was a
graduate student and, even farther back, a - gasp - musician. In fact, playing
symphonic and chamber music helped put me through graduate school in
computer science.

I am married with 2 children, one a writer / artist / photographer and the
other working as a software engineer / developer. When given spare time, my
interests include listening to good music (with preferences for symphonic and
Italian opera), reading, Car Talk reruns, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, Dr. Who and
wishing I as still young enough to play cricket.

"As soon as coffee is in your stomach, there is a general commotion.
Ideas begin to move ... similes arise, the paper is covered. Coffee
is your ally and writing ceases to be a struggle."
